The PLC output is commanded but the contactor does not pull in. The next authorised check is voltage directly across A1 and A2. The exercise grades the complete measurement plan—state, mode, placement, range and expected evidence—before a tool is applied.

Use a parallel AC-voltage measurement to distinguish missing control voltage from a failed coil or mechanism. One measurement should answer one branch of the fault tree; collecting numbers without a decision rule creates more ambiguity.
