Briefing
A trip must not be forgotten the moment the cause goes away. When ESTOP or THERMAL_OL goes active, the motor stops and FAULT_LAMP lights, and both stay that way after the cause clears. START is ignored while the fault is on. RESET_PB clears the fault, but only when ESTOP and THERMAL_OL are both FALSE. Resetting never restarts the motor: the operator presses START again.
Objectives
- ESTOP or THERMAL_OL active: MOTOR and RUN_LAMP off, FAULT_LAMP on
- The fault stays on after the cause clears
- RESET_PB clears the fault only when ESTOP and THERMAL_OL are both FALSE
- START does nothing while the fault is on; it works again after a reset
Hints
- FAULT_LAMP must outlive ESTOP and THERMAL_OL. Use the spare memory bit FAULT to remember that a trip happened, then show it on the lamp.
- What switches the memory on? Either cause going active. What switches it off? RESET_PB, but never while a cause is still active.
- The motor must also respect the memory: it stops when the fault is on, and START cannot start it while the fault is on.
- Internal bits update one scan later than outputs. If a check looks one moment too early, nothing is wrong with your logic.

Your program will be tested against:
All test cases run automatically when you submit. Assertions are hidden until you pass.
- #1ESTOP while running → motor off, FAULT_LAMP on
The trip drops the motor and RUN_LAMP and lights the fault lamp
- #2ESTOP released → FAULT_LAMP stays on, motor stays off
A remembered trip does not clear itself
- #3RESET while THERMAL_OL is still active → fault stays on
A reset is refused while a cause is still present
- #4Cause cleared, then RESET → FAULT_LAMP off, motor still off
Resetting clears the fault without restarting the motor
- #5START while the fault is latched → motor stays off
ESTOP has cleared but the fault is still on, so START does nothing
- #6After a reset, START runs the motor again
The full recovery: trip, clear, reset, start
- #7RESET while ESTOP is still active → fault stays on
The emergency stop is a cause too: no reset while it is held
